September 2023 we went to Ghana for the third time, yet this time with a concrete project to work on and therefor a good reason to meet our contacts again.

With the production of the mould a set of test/sample unibricks were delivered as well….and they looked good!

it was time to order a mould that can do serial production of the unibricks and fit the machine line provided by GPBO.

the connection of the production-line created by GPBO to the production of unibricks is just too logical not to explore.

Accra is changing rapidly, it is questionable if this is always for the good. Things are moving, yet not all seem to be able to catch up.

On the last day we visited a construction site and dived into the comparison of unibrick with conventional materials.

Plastic is an artificial material and, in the way we use it, containing unknown additives. We needed to get a grip on the possible health risks for people living in a space made with unibricks.

People imagined plastic being a material which relatively easy catches fire. This doesn’t mix well with the goal to use it as construction material for affordable housing. So we needed to get a grip on this topic….
