First unibrick

In the winter of 2018 we had our first attempt to make a unibrick. We constructed a wooden mould, heated up the oven and weighed up about 7,5 kilos of plastic. The melting process took about the full day, way longer than we expected (the melted plastic works as an isolator for the granulate underneath as we found out). It did gave us plenty of time to philosophy about a future for unibrick, though.

At the end of the afternoon, when the plastic was melted, we “poured” it over into the mould…well it behaves more like sticky chewing gum, and then we tried to close the mould. It took our full weight to create a bit of the pressure needed….The next day, it took some time before the plastic and wood released all the trapped heat, the brick came out remarkably well: the mother of all unibrick saw the light!
