Visit Ghana 2020 - land ownership and building permits

an example of the marks seen on countless buildings and constructions

Although we haven’t really figured out how the system works, we did notice that ownership and the right to build is something special here in Ghana. There’s no street where you can find tags on the wall saying the building is property of someone often with the remark is is not for sale. Yet, when looking more closely, you’ll also see tags that actually claim the ownership of buildings, which turned out to be an illegal activity which could even be successful!

Yet is isn’t a complet “wild west” since the government does manage the constructions and pays good attention to everybody getting their permits. This is visible in uncountable examples of construction sites or light constructions with the remark to get a permit immediately.
