Unibrick: what is it?

Unibrick is a simple yet unique shape; with just one basic building block you can build anything you want. The interlocking shape (the blocks keep each other in place) and the internal connection-system makes mortar or glue unnecessary, dramatically speeds up construction and practically gives everyone the possibility to construct their wished building.

We deliver basic designs for buildings that are optimized in their use. But in co-creation with the client everything can be build. Since the internal connection can also be disconnected the building becomes incremental and grows along with the user; the building can be changed like you would change your interior. We can even take back the Unibrick when you reduce the size of your building.

Unibrick is made of a plastic-sand compound making in both cheap in resource materials as very strong in terms of its construction capacity and has a positive food-pint winning about 3kg of CO2 per kg Unibrick (concrete is about – 7kg CO2). These resources can be found locally, so in combination with our compact production-line we can create a compact locally based value-chain.

Unibrick: how does it work?

In order to find an answer to the unprecedented need for affordable housing, the sheer endless amounts of plastic waste and all the subtle differences in local needs in the communities around the globe, Unibrick works with a network of local entrepreneurs running the production lines (through license agreements). These entrepreneurs are our eyes and ears on the local markets, they understand the ways of the rules and regulations and, all together, they form a great input for further R&D on the Unibrick-system.

The decentral production and logistical system (only locally available materials and parties are involved) creates a relatively light organisation which is capable of expanding rapidly. Keeping the core development central, closely connected to high-tech institutes for all to benefit from it.

The local entrepreneur taps into the knowledge network of Unibrick, is provided by a turnkey production-line and molds and the needed recipes, designs and technical support for the brick-production and support during the startup-phase. With a go-to-market plan, building designs, clear contracts for sub-contractors and an ever growing service package we help these entrepreneurs to become successful constructors of affordable buildings for their communities.

Unibrick: USPs
