Visit Ghana 2022: legal ways of Ghanian

Through previous conversations with people at the RVO and the GNBCC (Ghana Netherlands Business and Culture Council) it was time to dive into the legal ways to do business in Ghana. For this we were introduced to Abena Ntrakwah-Mensah, Managing Partner of the Accra based Ntrakwah & Co - Legal practitioners and consultants.

Although the idea is to keep things simple and “low profile” for as long as possible to keep us away from unneeded expenses, this meeting made clear that doing business in Ghana needed a local entity and and investment that could potentially go up as far as $500k! This investment turned out to be much smaller and will most probably be fully covered by the fact that we will bring in a machine line.

The local entity didn’t fit our idea of the starting configuration and definitely seemed heavy for the start, but did provide us with a clear construction to run the business and feel legally protected. It also created a clear setup for doing business with our franchisee(s). This meeting made a lot of sense and, through the network of RVO/GNBCC, we seem to have found a trustworthy local legal partner.
